Product of the Week: Singing Bowls

Gold Buddha Singing Bowl

This week we will be featuring Singing Bowls as our product of the week. We will delve (throughout the week) into the mysteries of these truly intriguing pieces of art and culture. These instruments of sounds date back many centuries (many being depicted in great detail in other handicrafts of the Himalayas, such as tapestry) with the tonal qualities becoming warmer and more rich with age (hence the price increase in the market for highly sought after antique specimens.

The singing bowl’s mystery comes from the varied sounds produced as a result of its forgery process. The metals used in these pieces are layered on top of one another with each one vibrating at a different frequency. This effect produces the different tones which comprise the rich sound of the singing bowl. Art of Tibet provides a variety of hand-made instruments of sound direct from the Himalayas, check them out! More info on singing bowls coming throughout the week including a how to video!
