It’s Raining. It’s Pouring.
As I write this it’s raining in New York. Raining on the roof. Raining on the traffic. On the traffic lights. On the lawn outside. On the snails. It’s flooded the earthworms out of their diggs. On the passers-by, especially on the umbrella- less. On that lady who walks her tiny weiner- dog without ever picking up the poop. All over the poop. And frankly, it’s raining all over my Friday night plans. Oh well, time for a “Plan B!” Which brings us to the theme for the day. Here are some of my favorite quotes on rain:
God didn’t promise day’s without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain: but he did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.
Yeah, kinda sappy, but I’m Ok with that.
Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.
The quality of Mercy is not strained; it droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven upon the place beneath. It is twice blessed– it blesseth him that gives and him that takes.
~ William Shakespeare
And my personal fav:
A poet is someone who stands outside in the rain hoping to be struck by lightning.
~ James Dickey
