Compassion Connection

This week’s featured charity is the Sera Je Food Fund; begun in 1991 by Lama Zopa Rinpoche to provide food for the then 1300 monks at the Sera Je Monastery in southern India.
It is a custom for offerings of food to be made to all the sangha for the official entrance of one into the monastic community, it is due to this custom that this fund was established (upon the entrance of Lama Osel Rinpoche).

Today the fund continues to provide sustenance to the monks, and its impact can be truly seen here.  Thanks to The Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayna Tradition for providing such an excellent look into this fascinating act of compassion begun many years ago.  Contribute to the feeding of monks spreading and teaching the dharma today by giving to the Sera Je Food Fund!  The fund currently serves three full, nutritious meals to all 2,600 monks at a cost of approximately $270,000  (USD) per year.  Providing food is one of the strongest ways to build your good karma, so please, help feed the monks of Sera Je and donate today.
